FALL Dry Skin Fix

We all know mother nature is coming with a vengeance and the winter season is arising!  I don't know about you but my skin is twice as high maintenance during this season.  I thing i learned that is muy importante is that you CAN'T use the same products on your skin that you were using during the Spring/Summer.  TRUE statement!  

If your skin suffers from dryness, itching, eczema, psoriasis, or just plain o'le ashy.  Here's the solution!  First thing is to gently EXFOLIATE in the shower with warm water.  Easy enough right?  Make sure you pick out a MOISTURIZING soap/shower gel/etc that has micro beads and use a LOOFAH.  

  

Also look for soaps with original or UNSCENTED without all that fancy shmancy complicated scents.  Hard to do since we all want to smell that nice scent while showering.  

 

Next, you want to towel pat dry and immediately after bathing/showering apply lotion!  LOTION, LOTION, LOTION!  After that nice exfoliating action we want to make sure that we replenish moisture back into the skin so that the barrier can be protected from the harsh weather.  The best and most effective product on the market that has been tested and labeled by the "Good Housekeeping" award seal is Eucerin!

Eucerin is expensive yes I know, but its worth every penny!  I have seen Eucerin used at Dermatologist offices and hospitals.  Why? because they know what works!  Wouldn't you rather purchase a product that is effective than a waste of $$$ just because it is a bargain buy?  This lotion is best because it targets the problem without all the extra additives or scents that can IRRITATE the skin.  So make sure the lotion is UNSCENTED or ORIGINAL.  If you want to smell good after showering that's what deodorants and perfumes are for right?

No Doubt & Pink

 

Pick up those Monday blues and stop thinking about what happened this past weekend for a bit.  Two new exciting music news coming your way!  The power houses of No Doubt and Pink returns to the music world!  

I'm really looking forward to the most anticipated reunion comeback of Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, and Adrian Young, better known as No Doubt.  The native Anaheim, California genre of Ska, Reggae, and Dancehall music group have announced its album release "Push and Shove" on September 25, 2012.  In the meantime their single "Settle Down" drops airway July 16, 2012.  

It has been a decade since the group released its "Rock Steady" album in 2001 and we are ready to have them back in SoCal!  Here is a sneak peak...

  

Back from motherhood land, Pink released a new track July 2, 2012 named "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" and is hitting the airways for the summer.  The new track still brings that "heartbreak relationship trouble" type of feel which we all know is Pink's signature forte.  

The new album named "The Truth About Love" will be released on September 18, 2012. Exciting music to look forward to in the month of September!

Bath Salts and Strawberry Quick

Within the last 2-3 wks the nation has seen bizarre true stories of Man eating man's face.  Reports of several incidents have followed since that of Rudy Eugene's story.  "Zombie-like" behavior has been described as the after math of "Bath Salts."


This drug referred to as "Bath Salts" are now being seen in local smoke shops.  With street names and nicknames such as listed below: 

What are "Bath Salts" you might as?  It is a dangerous chemical drug that if inhaled or for lack of term, "shooted up" has unparalleled behaviors of paranoia, severe aggression, hallucinations, and induce psychosis.  "Bath Salts" is often being sold or poses as synthetic cocaine. 


Another drug making popularity is "Strawberry Quick."  Referred to as "Pop Rocks" candy, and may come in more than one flavor.  "Strawberry Quick" is a new form of Crystalized Meth that takes characteristics of the actual Pop rock candy.  

Perhaps it's due to boredom or "god-like" complex feelings, it's inevitable that there continues to be a lot of bad out there in this world.  As educators, role models, or parents please take the time to advice your kids and young adults.  Thanks for reading!

AIRTIME debuts live!

Napster co-founder and co-creator, Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker, unveils Airtime today!

Airtime is a Facebook-connected video-chatting platform on tres chic.  When you log on Airtime.com you see two video-chat windows, a list of your friends from Facebook surfaces to the right of the screen, and a list of your Interest or list of topics on the bottom of the video chat.  The list of interest are highlighted based on commonality.  Airtime can start a random conversation with someone based on these interest or someone who lives in your geographical area.  

Some say it's similar to Google+ or Skype with it's ability to watch YouTube clips while engaging in a video chat together.  Although speculations will have many doubting the potential of the site, the unique ties to Facebook and the 900 million active users, giving it potentially more reach.

Since Airtime is integrated into Facebook, it knows your real identity and can ban you in a hurry if you try and engage in lude video sessions.  The site with snap photos of users periodically to ensure that people are following safety measures.  

Now one question remains: "Will you try Airtime?"

Downy Unstopables Scent Boosters

So I decided to try this at Target as oppose to my usual Downy Fabric Softener liquid.  New product? Why not give it a try right?  I would have to say that i will never go back to fabric softener liquids again!  I use this in combination with my Green Works and ECOS Laundry detergent.  

Target sold the Downy Unstopable Boosters for $7.99/13.0z container.  I believe they have 3 scents available (fresh, lush, and delight).  You can determine which scent is right for you by squeezing and sniffing the container.  Just throw in a cap full to your wash and no alteration is needed to the settings of your washer.  I love this product and would recommend it to anyone who appreciates fresh smelling laundry!

Sinuses/Congestion, Spelt Grain, and Tunes!

Suffer from seasonal allergies?  Spring blossoms got you sneezing?  Congested from being sick?  Have no fear homeopathic solutions are here!  I for one know this method works because my sister has been using it for weeks in place of popping sinus meds (i.e. Zyrtec, Sudafed, Claritin, Allegra, Tavist, Chlor-Trimeton, Benadryl, etc.) So here's the secret!  Are you ready?  Oregano Essential Oil is the magic solution! 

DIRECTIONS:  Fill any regular size soup bowl with boiling hot water (DO NOT microwave H2O).  Put 3-4 drops of the Oregano Oil and swish around with a spoon.  Take a workout towel and put over your head.  Breath in the vapor from the bowl.  Make sure to take deep good breaths to reap the benefits.  Best done at night before going to bed!  Repeat daily as needed!

 

For the brown rice or quinoa lovers, i've got a healthier alternative!  I recently discovered Spelt Grain Berries. Got this 1lb bag at Whole Foods for $4.  It has more protein per serving than brown rice or quinoa combined! Although it takes up more time and water to cook, (1c of grain per 3c of h2O) it delivers a nuttier taste and fluffier texture than quinoa.  With 24 grams of protein per 1c, i say its worth a try.  From a healthy standpoint it is always good to try new things to shake up the palate.  Can't always eat the same mundane flavor, it gets quite boring!

Ladies if you missed the premiere of The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet show on Lifetime TV then you're in luck!  The first episode is online featuring "Jane Fonda, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Silverman, and Zoe Saldana."  This is a no holds barred conversation with celebrities describing their intimate thoughts and experiences that you won't get in magazines or the tabloids.  Here is the link to Episode 1 "Love/Loss."

Guys i didn't leave you out!  I've got something for you as well.  Check out Syfy's Total Blackout!  You will laugh your asses off!  If you are a fan of "Fear Factor" and "Punk'd, then this show is a perfect mash up!  Jaleel White host the contestants who faces off with their fears in absolute darkness!  Episode 1 "Entering the Darkness" will leave you wanting more!  First episode also has this funny Filipino guy in it name Marq..LOL!  You gotta watch it!

Love Is a Four Letter Word

Today drops the 4th album by Jason Mraz.  "Love Is a Four Letter Word" released its first single January 2012 with the track, "I Won't Give Up."  When Jason Mraz wrote this song, it seemed highly probable that his ipod playlist involved John Denver's "Annie's Song" and Switchfoot's "Dare You to Run."  The similarities will either sway or lure you to the 13 track album.  The video gives a heart felt vibe and the lyrics of the song sums up the title of the album.  Whether you are a die hard fan of J. Mraz or not, this video showcases his lyrical raw emotional talent.  He also features his "hippie" type look. Other tracks that caught my ear are below.  Enjoy and Happy Tues!

Healthy Tips and Tricks from America's Doctor!

I am a big fan of America's Doctor!  Doctor Oz is on a mission to give viewers the tools and changes to better your health.  Some of my favorite tips and tricks from a segment are listed below.  ENJOY!

TREATMENT for: 
SPLINTERS - ripen banana peel on the affected area wrapped overnight.  Helps bring up the foreign body up to the surface for easy removal the next day.   


DANDRUFF - 1part apple cider vinegar / 1part water into a spray bottle.  Spray and massage into scalp.  Turbine towel your hair for 15 mins.  Shampoo then wash off.  Repeat 3 days in a row then 2x/wk.  Helps break down the bacteria/yeast dandruffs thrive on.


BAD BREATH / GINGIVITIS - chew on a piece of sage to treat those nasty bad breath and inflammation on your gums.


CALLUSES - take a real licorice stick (not the candy one) and grind in a coffee bean grinder.  Then add 1/2 tsp. of sesame oil to make a paste.  Apply to affected area and seal with a bandage.  Wear overnight then wash in the a.m.


ECZEMA - add 1/2 box of the small size baking soda to a warm water bath and soak for 20-30 mins.  Rinse and repeat when needed.  


MUSCLE WORKOUT CRAMPS - if you have tried extra Potassium and Magnesium replacement and it failed to relief those painful cramp, try drinking 2.5 oz of pickle juice to treat those onset muscle cramps.  It takes about 85 seconds to work.  Trainers have recommended this tip to their athletes with much success.  NOTE: it does NOT work for menstrual cramps!


TIPS to ADD for HEALTHY LIVING:
- When going to the bathroom, try squatting instead of sitting to work those leg muscles and back.  It helps increase the flow and time to do your business. Plus it prevents the risk for hemorrhoids.


- Shop at the perimeter of your store.  If you take a look at the layout of your favorite grocery store.  Everything in the middle are what they consider "fillers" to occupy the original healthy stuff.  Vegetables, fruits, meats, milk, etc are always placed around the store not in the aisle.  Interesting huh?


- I'm not a big wine drinker but when i do consume wine my choice is a nice glass of  Cabernet Sauvignon.  This particular red includes the highest antioxidant called Polyphenols that prevent cell damage from free radicals.  Also Cabs contain the most amount of Resveratrol which increases the "good" cholesterol and slows down the "bad" cholesterol.  NOTE: Please consume in moderation.  Max 1 glass for women and 2 glasses for men.

Stolen Cell Phone Database!

Lost your cell phone? Got it stolen?  Worry that the person who kept it is gonna sell it back on Craigslist or Ebay?  Don't fret my pets.  In efforts to cut down on phone thefts, the FCC has now teamed up with the likes of AT&T, T Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon to crack down on such inefficiencies.  

U.S. cell phone owners will now be able to call their provider to report lost or stolen phones and be placed in a common database.  The carrier will lock it down to prevent any data and voice usage from the phone.  That particular serial number will ceased any activity incoming and outgoing.  So basically finding a new iphone or a fancy smartphone anywhere is useless.  The retailers are basically saying "we've got your back!"  

In the meantime companies are still encouraging consumers to set passwords and secure their device.  For the iphone users like me, take the time to download "Find My iPhone" app and register your phone. This app will locate your iphone from a computer login and detect its current location.  In order for the app to work the lost/stolen iphone has to be powered on to be detected.  This will give cell phone users some sort of peace of mind per say.  If you invested big $$$ to own a fancy smartphone shouldn't it make sense to protect it?  Just Saying! :))

Opening Day for Baseball!

Today is Good Friday Passover indeed.  Also the opening day for the Angels baseball team starts!  The Angels square off against the Kansas City Royals tonight, April 6th 7pm Anaheim, CA at the Angels Stadium.  Albert Pujols, former St. Louis Cardinals, debuts his 1st opening game as an Angel!  The number 5 jersey Angel has created such a buzz to the team!  

Not only are fans excited about the new team member, but the food also decided to do a make-over.  We are all familiar with Dodgers signature Dodger dog and garlic fries.  The Angels stadium food was never really a must have.  Perhaps this season that will change.  New addition such as the Deep Fried Hot Dog wrapped in tortilla with your choice of toppings and the cinnamon sugar nachos topped with ice cream is also making a debut at the food concession stands tonight!

The Comeback of Boy Bands!

Boy Bands have been around for generations.  Pioneered by the style of Barbershop quartets in late 19th century, groups such as The Monkees, The Osmonds, Beatles, Jackson 5, and the Puerto Rican band Menudo have pave way to the musical boy band popular music sensation.  

My boy band era consist of acts such as Boyz II Men, The Backstreet Boys, NSync, and 98 Degrees.  Whether or not you hate the concept of "boy bands" per say, you probably contributed by listening and enjoying the music of such artist in the past. 

 

This year the new generation is making way of the return of boy bands.  The group "One Direction" debut late last year signing with Columbia Records and discovered in the hit show "The X Factor" by Simon Cowell. Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson makes the British-Irish young sweethearts.

Vera Wang 2012 Bridal Collection / Eyelash Tips

Notorious for her bridal dresses,Vera Wang simply took a risk for her edgy, non-tradition fall line up. Our society and generation is definitely far from what people state "normal."  It is time the bridesmaid dresses became white and the bride to pop!  I think that is what Vera Wang sets to achieve in re-thinking wedding gowns.  Taking tradition lace and fabric into artsy and braver look.  Out with the white and in with the nude and black!  As Joy Behar states and i quote "No one is a virgin anymore.  So why play games, why pretend, just wear the black.  Those days are over!"  

Eyelash fanatic?  Although the trend started its mainstream appearance in 2008,  it is still the number one accessory women are indulging on.  Here are a few tips from experts!

Hump Day ends with my favorite song of the day.  Karmin's song "Brokenhearted" hitting the airwaves with its upbeat energetic, uptempo, mainstream pop, and hip hop.  And Yes Amy can rap!

ABDC Season 7 and J. Biebs

The superstars return when an all-new season of "America's Best Dance Crew" premieres Wed, April 11 @ 10/9c on MTV for its 7th Season.  All new with past crew winners!  There's also new groups from countries such as Australia, Mexico, and Japan.  I have not been following the show since Season 3 when my personal favorite, with the likes of Ryan Conferido, Hok, D-Trix, and Victor Kim Quest Crew took the crown. But this season seems promising and i'm excited to view the opening show!  Judges JC Chasez, Lil Mama, and D-Trix are back as the panel of judges.

MIB III and Music Mondays

If you're a big fan of the MIB series, you're in luck because MIB III releases on May 25, 2012.

And of course who snags the soundtrack song in the upcoming film, Pitbull!  His song "Back In Time" will be the chosen movie song.  What I love about Mr. 305's music is that no matter what song he releases, he always makes you wanna get up and dance. Pitbull not only created a rocking rendition but he also incorporated an oldie song/beat into the track, Mickey and Sylvia's "Love is Strange" from 1957 Billboard hits.  

For you Ryan Tedder fans, i got something for you!  We all know Ryan Tedder from MTV's winner who released his own song "The Look."  The record producer, singer-songwriter wrote tracks for artist like Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff, Far East Movement, Adam Lambert, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis, Gavin DeGraw, Demi Lovato, and Adele just to name a few. One Republic's front man is now premiering a song for the Broadway sensation "Smash" which is back on TV NBC tonight at 10/9c.  Ryan wrote Katherine McPhee song called "Touch Me."  Check it out!
